Where
Can I Get Original Sixties Things?
|
|
| |
I
am frequently asked 'Where can I get....' various items of
info, music, clothing, pictures or 60s material. Although
I can provide a lot of information about the 60s, I do not
currently directly sell any personal items, but I do have
a collection of genuine Sixties items and memorabilia that
I am planning to offer for sale at some time in the future.
Below you will find a collection of links to sites that I
have either come across in my web meanderings and that look
useful, people who have contacted me offering a link exchange
or, in some of the cases, people who I have dealt with and
purchased from. They are grouped together below in general
areas of interest for your convenience. There are also links
to some great internet radio sites specialising in Sixties
sounds.
Also, please visit Amazon via my link where there are thousands
of related products to choose from, as well as their complete
range of items.
Please note that Sixties City cannot, in any way, be responsible
for the content, operation or continued existence of any of
these sites. |

Going
Underground
A
first novel by Suzie Tullett
Three men on two scooters (a vintage Lambretta and Vespa) heading
down the country to Brighton... three women and a heavily pregnant
belly in hot pursuit - all squashed into a classic, Union Jack
roofed mini... and an off duty Police Officer bringing up the
rear... and with musically themed chapters it even has its own
soundtrack. |

The
Beatles Generation
A
first novel by Alan Morton
A nostalgic account of how the past can still hold tremendous
power over our lives, even with the passage of time. Together
with his insightful exploration of male friendship, Morton produces
an engaging social commentary of Britain over the past forty
years, with special focus on the 1960s, and the profound events
which not only shaped his character’s lives but will be particularly
familiar to readers over the age of fifty-five. |

“Playing
the Band…”
Author - Martyn Hanson. Editor – Colin Richardson
This book takes you on the roller-coaster ride that is the life
of Jon Hiseman –one of Britain’s top drummers. It's a personal
journey through one of the most intriguing and fascinating periods
in rock and pop history, telling in detail of the forces, the
personalities, the triumphs and disappointments that make up
a life spent at the centre of modern music...and all set against
the background of how, in the second half of the 20th century,
the British music industry reached dizzying heights. |

"The
Sixties" - Hardcover
(15 Oct 2011) by Bill Harry and Robert Orbach
The 1960s was a defining period in the 20th century.

out of the bland 1950s. A new generation took over the world
and brought it their long hair, vibrant music and exciting,
modern fashion. Moral standards and role models were questioned
and often rejected, All aspects of this remarkable decade are
covered Politics, Conflict, Sport, Music, People, Style as well
as all the key players of the time Lennon, McCartney, Kennedy,
Warhol, Armstrong, Dylan, Quant, King, Elvis, Mao. |

Auction Galleries
TV programmes like 'Flog It!' and the 'Antiques Roadshow' are moving
ever more steadily towards the 60s! Have a look at Kent
Auction Galleries website. Based in Folkestone, Kent, they tell
me that they "sell a lot of antiques at our auction but also
sell a good deal of 1950/60/70's bits along with art deco pieces which
go for peanuts as people don't think to come and see them". Got
to be worth a visit if you're in the area and after some memorabilia!
